THE STORY
What We Believe In
"I am the first consumer of my own products. I want them to make me feel good—and to do the same for the people who drink them.
To achieve this, we grow most of the raw ingredients ourselves and follow them through every stage of production, transforming them into our fantastic beers without any thermal or chemical treatment."
— Simone Dal Cortivo, Brewer and Founder of Birrificio Birrone
No chemical additives or processing aids are used in our production. No pasteurization.
Our products are 100% natural.
Only in this way can they become a true elixir of long life for those who drink them.
The Philosophy Behind Our Beers
“I believe that healthy and balanced nutrition is the foundation of everyone’s well-being,”
and consuming products from a controlled supply chain like our beers is a perfect example of that.
The complete absence of preservatives requires transportation, storage, and tapping to be carried out at controlled temperatures.
This gives us the absolute certainty that our product reaches the consumer in perfect condition just as if it were poured directly from the maturation tank.
SINCE 2008, WE’VE BEEN BREWING BEERS WITH A HAPPY SOUL
Since 2008, Birrone has passionately brewed top-quality beer with one clear purpose:
to craft beers with a happy soul, to make those who drink them feel Happy.
Over the years, this purpose has grown into a dream:
to make many, many, many people happy.
From homebrewer to Brewer of the Year, always in pursuit of the perfect beer
living this great dream every day as a great adventure full of joy.
The Revolution of Italian Craft Beer
It began with a bold idea: Birrone – THE beer to drink.
In 2008, most of the few existing breweries in Italy were focused on beers for fine dining.
Some produced “meditation beers.” Others made “fireplace beers.”
Birrone was born with a wink to the much-loved Bavarian beers of the time.
It launched with the ambitious mission of becoming Birrone – the beer to drink, with the confident aim of showing the public that Italian craft beer didn’t have to be just a niche product.
It could be a popular beer, meant to be enjoyed by the mug, in good company.
The Birth of the Omino del Birrone
From the very beginning, there was a need to visually represent the essence of Birrone in those early years.
After many attempts—and after finding the right graphic designer—the “Omino del Birrone” was born.
It’s said to represent none other than Simone himself, the Brewer and Founder, back when he weighed 42 kg more.
Legend has it…
he lost all that weight by drinking two liters of his own beer every day.
Brewer of the Year
Simone was named Brewer of the Year by Fermento Birra,
a prestigious national award in which around a hundred judges—selected among industry professionals and publicans from all over Italy—choose the best Italian brewer of the previous year.
The evaluation criteria range from quality consistency to distribution, from awards and recognitions to the ability to innovate and introduce new ideas.
At the time, Birrone was known throughout Italy as “the low fermentation brewery”, where it truly excelled.
But over the years, research and experimentation have led Simone to master many other styles as well—including spontaneous fermentation beers.
New Brewery Plant
After moving to the new facility in 2013, Birrone decided to install a new automatic system with a capacity of 60 hectoliters, the largest in Italy’s craft brewing sector.
Alongside this modern system, in the same year Birrone also installed a new bottling line, a new kegging machine, a new centrifuge, and a reverse osmosis system.
Birrone Brew Pubs
At the historic Taproom in Isola Vicentina, Birrone has expanded by adding new branded venues Birrone, Birrette, and Birrone Brew Bar, to satisfy its thirsty local customers.
There are six locations between Vicenza and Padua where Birrone sells its beers alongside artisanal baked goods produced by Panificio Dal Cortivo, owned by Simone.
Cellar Expansion
In 2022, due to growing market demand, additional new tanks were installed in the cellar, increasing its capacity to 1,500 hectoliters, making it one of the largest in Italy.
The Team Spirit that Drives Birrone
Birrone is not just one of the most important breweries in the Italian craft beer scene; above all, it is a team, a family that every day pours passion, expertise, and professionalism into crafting exceptional beers that make those who drink them happy.
